The long wait for cricket fans will be over on Sunday as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the schedule for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). The 18th edition of the tournament is expected to start on March 22 with the final scheduled for May 25.

As per tradition, Kolkata's iconic Eden Gardens will host both the opening and final games of the tournament. For those unversed, the tournament starts and finishes at the home of last year's champions. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the tournament in 2024 under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final.

The 2025 season promises to be an exciting edition after all 10 teams underwent an overhaul in the mega auction. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant became the IPL's highest-earning players in history after joining the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants.

Five teams will have new captains in the 18th edition. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Rajat Patidar), Punjab Kings (Shreyas Iyer), and Lucknow Super Giants (Rishabh Pant) have named their new captains, while Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders are also expected to make an announcement soon.
