Wish India Lose To Bangladesh, Rizwan 'Don't Hug Kohli': Pakistan Fan Slams India Over Champions Trophy Row (Source: AP)
Pakistan cricket fans are upset with the Indian cricket team for not touring Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy. The tournament was set to be fully played in Pakistan but the BCCI refused to send its team to the country citing security reasons. The PCB and BCCI were locked in a long tussle before the boards reached a middle ground and PCB agreed to host the tournament in a hybrid model.
The Pakistan fans are great admirers of Indian cricketers and wanted to see the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah play in their country, however, that was not the case. The entire saga left the fans upset with the BCCI. In a video posted by Pakistan journalist Faird Khan, an upset fan can be seen asking Rizwan and the Pakistan team to avoid hugging Virat Kohli and Indian players.
India and Pakistan are kept in Group A of the ICC Champions Trophy. The teams will clash on February 23 at the Dubai International Stadium. India holds an edge over Pakistan in ICC events, but Pakistan have got the better of India in the Champions Trophy, leading the head-to-head rivalry 3-2. In fact, Pakistan defeated India in the final of the 2017 edition to win their maiden title.
India will be one of the favorites to win the title, but their campaign was rocked by an injury blow to Jasprit Bumrah. Without Bumrah, the pace bowling looks a bit inexperienced, even though the team has Mohammed Shami in the squad. For Pakistan, the build-up to the tournament hasn't been great as they suffered twin defeats to New Zealand in the tri-series. Pakistan will play New Zealand in the first match of the Champions Trophy and if they lose, the match against India will be a must-win for them.
