India are all set to begin their campaign in the Champions Trophy 2025 on February 20 in Dubai against Bangladesh. The Men in Blue will be gunning for their record third title, and a lot of it will depend on how the three senior stars- Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Raindra Jadeja performs. All three players have shown some form in the recently concluded series against England. Now, with just days left for the big tournament to begin, the three legends are now being predicted to play ther final ICC event in the Champions Trophy 2025.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, former India opener Aakash Chopra predicted that the Champions Trophy 2025 could be the last ICC event for the trio of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. he next ICC event that India will be part of is the T20 World Cup 2026, and since the trio have retired from T20Is, the next event that they can be a part of is the ODI World Cup 2027. Chopra reckoned that the three superstars might not be playing the time the tournament kicks off two years later.
"I am saying with a heavy heart... There is a strong possibility. The Champions Trophy is about to happen and after that, there will be another ICC event this year, which is the WTC (World Test Championship) final and we haven't reached there. So none among Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja will play that," Aakash Chopra said.
After that, the ICC event next year is the T20 World Cup but all three have retired from that format. So all three won't play there as well. The ODI World Cup will be in 2027, which is a bit too far. The world will look very different by 2027. I think the players also feel this could be their last," he added.
