
Star India Batter Carried Kit Bags Weighing 250 Kg To Australia; BCCI Forced To Pay Lakhs: Report

India suffered one of the most humiliating defeats in recent times when they lost 1-3 in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, a loss which resulted in India not qualifying for the World Test Championship final for the first time ever. A lot of disciplinary changes were made by BCCI after this series, with the apex cricketing board issuing a 10-point diktat as a result of certain disciplinary lapses during the tour. One of the points of the diktat was that players can only travel of 150kg of luggage to tours. This point was a result of a star Indian cricketer and his antics during the tour to Australia.
According to a report by Dainik Jagran, a star cricketer, who has not been named, carried 27 bags as luggage to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His luggage weighed more than 250 kgs, and included 17 bats. This luggage was not his alone, as the report stated that it also included belogings if his family and friends. The BCCI had to shell out lakhs of rupees as baggage fees to various airports because of this star player.
The report futhter claims thatthis practice spread to other players as well, and hence the BCCI had to do something to stop it.
Players Can Only Carry 150 Kg Of Luggage
The BCCI has now made it clear that players are only allowed to carry luggage upto a 150 kg on foreign tours. If someone carries luggaeg more than this, then the player will have to pay for the extra weight.
The BCCI have already informed everuone that the new 10-point diktat will be implemented from the Champions Trophy 2025 onwards. This means that families of players ill ony allowed to stay with them for a maximum of two weeeks on a tour which stretches from 45 days or more.
