Virat Kohli Needs 37 Runs In 1st Match To Become First Player In The World To Score 14000 ODI Runs In 300 Innings (Source: AP/X)

Virat Kohli hasn't been at his best in recent times, but a solid half-century in the final ODI against England would instill some confidence in the great batter. Kohli is an ODI great and despite not many runs behind him, he will be one of India's pillars in the ICC Champions Trophy. A good series for Kohli will boost India's chances of winning the showpiece event.
Kohli is also set to break a massive world record in ODI cricket during the Champions Trophy. Kohli, who has scored 13963 runs in 285 innings, will become the first player in the world to score 14000 runs in less than 300 innings if he scores the required 37 runs in 15 innings, however, he could also break the record in India's first match of the ICC Champions Trophy against Bangladesh. Only Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara have scored 14000 or more runs in ODI cricket. Sachin reached the landmark in his 350th innings while Sangakkara took 378 innings to score 14000 runs.
Meanwhile, Kohli has scored 529 runs in 13 matches and he has a chance to go past Shikhar Dhawan to become India's leading run scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy. Dhawan tops the charts for India with 701 runs in 10 matches and Kohli needs 173 runs to leapfrog Dhawan. Kohli will also have a chance to become the leading run scorer in the tournament if he can score 263 runs. Chris Gayle is the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 791 runs to his name.
India are clubbed in Group A alongside New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The Men in Blue will play their first match against Bangladesh on February 20 before facing Pakistan on February 23. Their last league game against New Zealand will take place on March 2. India will play all their ICC Champions Trophy matches at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
