Babar Azam Brutally Trolled With Hilarious Memes As Ex-Captain Falls Cheaply In Tri-Series Final (Source: AP)
Babar Azam drew flak on social media after he endured another poor outing in the tri-series final against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi. Babar's form is a massive concern for Pakistan heading into the ICC Champions Trophy. The former Pakistan captain was dismissed by Michael Bracewell caught and bowled for 29 runs. Babar hasn't scored a hundred for Pakistan in 64 innings. His last century came against Nepal in August 2023.
Fans lost their cool after Babar failed to convert a good start into a big one and lashed out at the batter for consistent low returns.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam could lose the No.1 position in the ICC ODI rankings for batters after a horrible run in the tri-series. Babar is currently the No. 1 batter with 786 points, but the difference with Shubman Gill is just 6 points. Gill, who has 781 points to his name, had a great run in the ODI series against England and scored a hundred and two fifties. The odds are high that Babar would lose the top spot to Gill in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batters.
Babar Azam Fastest Asian To 6000 ODI Runs
While Babar did not score a big one in the tri-series final, he did manage to break a massive record. Babar Azam became the joint fastest and the fastest Asian to score 6000 ODI runs. Babar joined Hashim Amla at the top with 6000 ODI runs in 123 innings. Babar became the joint fastest to 6000 ODI runs despite not scoring a century in 64 innings which shows how dominant he was during the first phase of his career. Pakistan would hope that Babar finds form in the ICC Champions Trophy at home. If Babar scores runs, the chances of Pakistan winning the tournament will automatically skyrocket.
