Pakistan cricket star Babar Azam etched his name in the history books during the final of the tri-series against New Zealand on Friday (February 14) at the National Stadium in Karachi. The ex-Pakistan captain equalled a massive world record and also broke Saeed Anwar's 26-year-old feat for the Men in Green.
After Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and chose to bat first, Babar Azam once again opened the batting for Pakistan despite failing his new role in the league stage match against New Zealand and South Africa. Although Fakhar Zaman fell early, Babar gave a positive start to the home team this time around.

Babar Azam Equals Massive World Record

Through the course of his knock, Babar etched his name by equaling Hashim Amla's world record and becoming the joint fastest player in the world to complete 6000 ODI runs. Both players took 123 innings to reach the milestone, which is 13 innings quicker than Virat Kohli, who is third on the list.

Babar Azam Breaks 26-Year-Old Record

Babar also broke the 26-year-old record of legendary opener Saeed Anwar and became the quickest Pakistan player in history to reach the milestone. Babar is the first batter from the 1992 World Champions to reach 6000 ODI runs within 150 innings

Babar also holds the record of being the fastest player in the world to reach 5000 ODI runs. He completed the record in 2023 by reaching the milestone in just 97 innings. Before Babar, the record belonged to Amla, who took 101 innings.
Babar has an incredible record in ODI cricket with 6019 runs in 123 innings at an average of 55.73 with 19 centuries. Only Anwar (20) has more tons for Pakistan in the 50-over format than him.
