After India were defeated in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI issued a diktat which barred the families of players and support staff to stay with the team beyond a certain period of time on official tours. With the Champions Trophy 2025 on the horizon, the diktat is being implemented across all sections of the team, and it looks like the effect has even been extended on the privileges of head coach Gautam Gambhir. Reports earlier had said the BCCI had issues with Gambhir's personal secretary, and now it looks like the board have taken a big step regarding this.
According to a report by news agency PTI, the BCCI have shunned the services of a personal secretary of a member of the Indian coaching staff who was seen regularly at the team hotel on previous tours. He has been politely asked by the apex Indian cricketing body to stay at a different hotel from the team hotel. However, he was seen at every venue during the series against England at home.
"The personal secretary of a member of the coaching staff, who was regularly seen staying at the team hotel, now stays at a different facility even though he has been seen at every venue during the England home series," the report stated.
According to Hindustan Times, the only member of the coaching staff wo has a personal secretary is head coach Gautam Gambhir himself.

BCCI Member Lashes Out At Gambhir's Personal Secretary

A senior BCCI official lashed out at the privileges enjoyed by Gautam Gambhir's personal secretary. He revealed that he was sitting in the same car that was specified for national selectors, while also being allotted space in the BCCI hospitality box in Adelaide. He also revealed that the personal secretary had breakfast in the cordoned-off area of a five-star facility specifically reserved for team members.
"Why was his PA sitting in the car specified for national selectors? They can't even discuss things in private with an unknown third person in the car. Why was he allotted space in the BCCI's hospitality box in Adelaide? How did he have breakfast in the cordoned-off area of a five-star facility that is just earmarked for the team members?"
