Setback To Suryakumar Yadav As 24-Year-Old Match-Winner Doubtful For 2nd T20I Due To Twisted Ankle - Report (Source: AP)

India opener Abhishek Sharma could miss the second T20I against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. According to a report in Indian Express, Abhishek twisted his ankle during warm-up on Friday. Abhishek was treated by the physios but he did not bat along with his teammates.
India could be in slight trouble if Abhishek Sharma is not fit to play. Abhishek and Sanju Samson are only two openers in the squad and if Abhishek is ruled out, India will have to find a makeshift opener. Tilak Varma could be the one asked to open in case Abhishek Sharma is not available.
Abhishek Sharma was on fire in the first T20I and slammed a brutal 79 in 34 balls, including five fours and eight sixes, leading India to a seven-wicket win.
Earlier, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy ran riot and bowled out England for a mere 133. Varun, especially was unplayable and picked three wickets for 23 runs to win the man of the match award.

Mohammed Shami In Full Flow

Meanwhile, the report revealed that Shami bowled at full throttle during the warm-up. Shami was not picked in the India XI for the first game. There were speculations that Shami might not be fit, but the warm-up session dismissed any concerns. Shami not playing could be a part of India's strategy. The conditions did favour spinners in the first T20I so India played three spinners, with Arshdeep as the lone specialist pacer. The same could be followed in the second game too as Chennai is likely to aid the spinners as well. This will also allow Shami to stay fresh for the ODI series and the following Champions Trophy. Shami could play a game or two in the T20I series before India unleash him in the ODI series and Champions Trophy.
