nJasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant were added to the National Anti-Doping Agency's (NADA) registered testing pool (RTP) for 2025. As many as 14 men and women cricketers are in the current RTP, including athletes from other disciplines. Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma are also part of the list, according to a report in the Times Of India. The women cricketers include Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, and Renuka Singh Thakur. The test will reportedly be conducted during the white-ball series between India and England. The players are required to submit their whereabouts which will be used by NADA to take their sample. The whereabouts include residence address, email, phone number, address for overnight stay, regular activities such as training, work and location, competition schedules and locations and a 60 minute time slot when they will be available.
The NADA had created the RTP concept in 2019 and the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma were part of the roster. All the five players failed to give their whearabots, however, no strict actions were taken and they were let off after giving a warning. The BCCI maintained that there was a techical glitch in the website which didn't allowed the players to give their whereabouts. The apex board also cited Covid-19 induced lockdown as the reason for delay in getting the issue fixed.
Prithvi Shaw was tested positive in 2020 after he was found guilty of useing a banned substance. Shaw maintained that he consumed the substance by mistake, but he was suspended. Players like Yusuf Pathan, Pradeep Sangwan and Anshula Rao have also faced suspention from the BCCI for failing dope Test.
