India are all set to begin their campaign for the Champions Trophy 2025 on February 20 with a group-stage match against Bangladesh. After the failure to qualify for the WTC 2025 final, the Men in Blue will now have the chance to win an ICC Trophy. A win in the Champions Trophy 2025 will make India the most successful team in the tournament with three titles and then surpass Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah will be the player that everyone will pin their hopes on for India to win the tournament. However, legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh has backed two out-of-form superstars to lead them to glory.
In an interaction with The Times of India, Harbhajan Singh has backed Vira Kohli and Rohit Sharma to shine in the Champions Trophy. The star off-spinner also emphasised the fact that they have performed big in ICC tournaments like the World Cup 2023 and the T20 World Cup 2024.
"Bada khiladi wahi hota hai jo comeback karna jaanta hai [A great player knows how to make a comeback]. Virat and Rohit are players of immense stature, and they will shine in the Champions Trophy. We've seen how they perform in big tournaments - the ICC World Cup 2023 and the T20 World Cup are prime examples," Harbhajan said.
Harbhajan Singh also said that despite a tough run form big players like Kohli and Rohit know how to bounce back and hence can lead India to the Champions Trophy 2025 title.
"Rohit, Virat, Shami, and Bumrah are match-winners. Every player faces tough phases, but these big players know how to bounce back. I am confident Rohit and Virat will come out all guns blazing in the Champions Trophy and lead India to the title," the legend added.
