Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has said that Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin's grand gesture to give a shoutout to him during their Navi Mumbai concert, saying that it made him smile. The latter played the video of Bumrah's famed wicket of England's Ollie Pope on the big screen during the next show at the same venue on the next day.
Towards the end of the concert, Martin stopped crooning and teased fans saying that he needed to wrap it soon since it was time for Bumrah to play cricket at the stadium. The concert was being held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
After consecutive mentions, Bumrah took to his social media accounts to react to the gesture. He wrote how the special mention made him smile.
"This made me smile! The incredible vibe at the @coldplay concert in Mumbai (from what I’ve seen here) and even more special to be mentioned," Bumrah posted.
“We got to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play cricket backstage. Thank you very much, everybody, good night. He says he needs to ball at me," Martin said during the concert.
During the second show, the English singer remarked that his earlier comments about Bumrah wanting to bowl to him were a 'lie' before showing a clip of Pope's dismissal, which sent the audience into a frenzy.
“We love you Jasprit. So, we are going to ask him to wait for 15 minutes. So, we would like to play the song one more time, this time with four of us and the 60,000 of you all in the same breath," Martin said on Day 1 of the concert.
As part of their ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’, the British band has one more show at the DY Patil Stadium on Monday. A fourth show will be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, January 25.
