India suffered a massive defeat at the hands of Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Most tof the players failed to perform for India in the series, as BCCI issued an diktat for players to play domestic cricket in order to be considered for selection in the longest format. This also held true for players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have not played Ranji Trophy for a long period of time. Rohit is confirmed to play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, but Virat's participation has remained uncertain. However, we may finally see him turn of for Delhi.
According to a report by PTI, there are high chances that Virat Kohli might play the Ranji Trophy match for Delhi against Railways that is set to take pace at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from January 30. Even though there is no official confirmation from Virat himself, a report in Sports Tak says that there are chances of him playing since the match is taking place in Delhi.
"Virat has conveyed to DDCA president (Rohan Jaitley) and team management that he is available for the game against Railways," Delhi head coach Sarandeep Singh told PTI.
If Virat Kohli does play this game, this will be he first time in over 12 years that the star batter will feature in a Ranji Trophy game. He last played for Delhi in a Ranji Trophy match in 2012 against Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad's Mohan Nagar.

Virat Kohli Not Playing Vs Saurashtra

Virat Kohli is not inculuded in the Delhi squad to play the Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Suarashtra from January 23. He is only one of the two big-name players alongwith KL Rahul to not play the tournament after BCCI's official diktat was issued. Kohli is reportedly suffering from a neck sprain.
Rishabh Pant is confirmed to play the match for Delhi against Saurashtra He refused to take the role of captaincy, as Ayush Badoni will continue to lead the side.
