India are all set to announce their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 on January 18 (Saturday). Rohit Sharma is confirmed to lead the side, as he and chief selector Ajit Agarkar will announce the squad in a press conference. One of the sports that fans will be waiting in eager anticipation for is who becomes the first-choice wicketkeeper batter. KL Rahul took the spot in the ODI World Cup 2023, while ther were also reports of Sanju Samson being included in the squad as well. However, it looks like none of them will take the spot in the India squad for the mega tournament.

According to a report by PTI, Rishabh Pant is set to be India's first-choice wicketkeeper-batter in the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. Dhruv Jurel is also expected to be the backup wicketkeeper-batter choice. Sanju Samson was also in contention for selection in the squad. The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter was not selected for the Vijay Hazare Trophy after he made the decision not to attend the practice session with his state team and to stay back in Dubai. This did not sit down well with the selection committee.

According to the PTI report, KL Rahul might be in direct contention with Yashasvi Jaiswal for a spot in the playing XI. . Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer are locked in to feature in the top-order for Team India, and hence the other spot in the batting order in the top five will be between Rahul and Jaiswal.

The report also states that Yashasvi Jaiswal might play in the ODI series against England, while KL Rahul will be preferred in the Champions Trophy 2025.

According to an India Today report, Jasprit Bumrah is now all set to be selected for the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. However, the selection committee would like to see the star fast bowler to play at least one competitive match before they make a final decision.
