A late Amad Diallo hat-trick helped Manchester United to register a brilliant comeback win against Southampton in the Premier League. At just 22 years and 189 days old, the Ivorian winger surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo to become the second youngest Manchester United player to register a hat-trick in the Premier League. Wayne Rooney currently tops the list as his hat-trick came at 21 year and 4 days.
Southampton looked solid and took the lead through Manuel Ugarte's own goal at the stroke of 43rd minute. But it was Amad who ensured Southampton didn't leave without a point. He equalised for the home side in the 82nd minute and then volleyed home a Christian Eriksen chip to double the lead.
He then capitalised a mistake from a Southampton defender and pounced on to complete his hat-trick. This could have been the first instance of United losing four straight home games since 1930 but a late surge ensured the Red Devils went up to 12th in the Premier League table.
Amad insists he is ready to play wherever Ruben Amorim wants to use him. As quoted by the Associated Press he said, “I am ready to play every position — I am ready to play as a wing back, No. 10, where the manager likes to put me.
“I am ready to fight for this club.”
United are now unbeaten in three matches in all competitions and will now host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League followed by a home game against Rangers in the Europa League.
