India are all set to begin their campaign for the Champions Trophy 2025 from February 20, as they aim to win the tournament for less than a year after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. It has now been confirmed that Roit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar will attend a press conference and announce the squad for the tournament on January 18 (Saturday). There had been multiple reports before that Sanju Samson was in strong contention to be selected a one of the wicketkeepers for the squad for the mega tournament. Now, it seems that his spot is in trouble.
According to a report by India Today, Sanju Samson is not in contention to be selected in the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter was not selected for the Vijay Hazare Trophy after he made the decision not to attend the practice session with his state team and to stay back in Dubai. This might have influenced the selection decision regarding Samson. He has, however been selected for the T20I series vs England.

Jasprit Bumrah Likely To Be Selected

Jasprit Bumrah suffered back spasms during the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. There have been reports that he is not fit to play right now and is set to report to the NCA to recover from his injury. This also put a lot of clouds over his selection in the Champions Trophy 2025.
