Smriti Mandhana created history and etched her name in history books with a century in the third and the final ODI of the series against Ireland in Rajkot on Wednesday (January 15). Mandhana hit 135 off just 80 balls. The left-handed batter batted with a strike rate of 168.75 and hit 7 sixes and 12 boundaries in her knock.
Smriti Mandhana created history the moment she breached the 100-run mark and became the first Indian to achieve a huge landmark. Mandhana is now the only Indian batter to hit 10 centuries in women's ODIs.
Mithali Raj held the record for scoring the most ODI hundreds for India. She slammed 7 centuries during her illustrious career. The former India captain is followed by Harmanpreet Kaur, who has 6 centuries in 141 ODIs. Harmanpreet was rested for the Ireland series.
The record for most centuries in women's ODIs belongs to Meg Lanning. The Australia legend hit 15 centuries before quitting international cricket. She is followed by Suzie Bates, who has 13 tons. Mandhana now shares the third spot with Tammy Beaumont.
India whitewash Ireland
India whitewashed Ireland in the three-match ODI series. The Women in Blue smashed multiple records during the third ODI. They now hold the record for India's highest score in ODIs (men's and women's). Indian women's team scored 435/5 in 50 overs. The men's team has the highest score of 418/5.
Pratika Rawal and Mandhana provided a dream start to India in the third ODI and added 233 runs for the first wicket. Pratika continued her purple patch and scored 154 off 129 balls. Richa Ghosh also played a key role in the big score with a knock of 59 off 42.
The home team registered a huge 304-run win in the third game. Pratika was bestowed with the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.
