India recently suffered a massive series defeat at the hands of Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, thus losing their chance to qualify for the WTC 2025 final. India also suffered some major injury setback, with Jasprit Bumrah suffering back spasms during the 5th Test at Sydney. It was not just Bumrah who suffered an injury. His fellow pacer Akash Deep was injured and had o miss the final Test of the series. He has now finally shared a massive update after being forced out of action from the Ranji Trophy.
In an interaction with PTI, Akash Deep said that his recovery is on course. He has now been advised a complete rest for 15 days since he had been playing non-stop cricket for a considerable amount of time. He will start bowling once he gets instruction for the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to do so.
“All good. My recovery is on course and since I had been playing non-stop cricket for a considerable period of time, I was advised to off-load (complete rest) for 15 days. I am following the advice of NCA and once they instruct me to start bowling, I will do so," Akash Deep said.

Was Given Brief To Slow Down Game: Akash Deep

The Bengal pacer also said that his aim is to maintain discipline and bowl in good read so that the batter makes a mistake. It does not matter if the ball is new or old. He also revealed that his job was to slow down the game and stem the run-flow in case he was not getting any wickets vs Australia.
“My endeavour was to maintain discipline, bowl in good areas, and wait for the batter to make a mistake…doesn’t matter if the ball is new, semi-new or old. I would be given a brief that in case I am not getting wickets, I should do the holding job at one end, slow down the game, and run-flow so that things are under control." he added.
