Rishabh Pant has been enjoying his break from the game since the Australia tour. Rishabh decided to interact with fans and he asked them to send their questions on X. Rishabh responded to many fans and spoke on a range of topics. The wicketkeeper-batsman named the batsman from the past he would have loved to play with.
Rishabh didn't mention Sachin Tendulkar and picked Virender Sehwag. Rishabh missed out on playing with Sehwag even in domestic cricket. Rishabh's first domestic season (2015/16) was Sehwag's last. Before the start of the season, Sehwag left Delhi to play for Haryana.
Rishabh would have shared the dressing room with Sehwag had the latter continued to play for Delhi. Sehwag last played for Team India in 2013. He quit IPL in 2015. Rishabh made his IPL debut in 2016 for Delhi Capitals (then known as Delhi Daredevils).
Interestingly, Rishabh replaced Sehwag as Delhi's opener in white-ball cricket. He started his List A career as an opener for Delhi. Rishabh plays fearless cricket like Sehwag and is one of the quickest batters in world cricket at present.
Rishabh Pant's career
Rishabh, who made his T20 debut in April 2016, made his India debut in a T20I against England in February 2017. His Test debut came against England in 2018. He played his first ODI against West Indies in October 2018.
Rishabh has been a regular in the Test team's playing XI since the 2020/21 season. He can become part of the leadership group if there is a change going ahead.
Rishabh has already captained India in T20Is. He made his captaincy debut in the home series against South Africa in 2022. He has played 43 Tests, 31 ODIs and 76 T20Is.
Rishabh captained Delhi Capitals from IPL 2021 to 2024. He created history in the IPL 2025 mega-auction by joining Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 27 crore. The 27-year-old is all but confirmed to lead LSG in the upcoming season.
